Meirav is 22 years old and is a fourth year university student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She studied abroad in 2016-17 for a year at Tel Aviv University and really enjoyed living in Israel. During that year she worked with the American Jewish League for Israel to not only make her experience abroad meaningful but to share what she has learned with her peers when she returned from her year in Israel. She is pursing a bachelor's degree with a double major in Global Studies with a focus in the Middle East, governance, and conflict resolution and in Jewish Studies. Meirav is also minoring in History as her interest in Middle East history has grown immensely. Meirav published her first article with Dr. Ofir Winter through the Institute for National Security Studies in Israel in the Summer of 2017. Her article "Egypt's Challenging Shift from Counterterrorism to Counterinsurgency in the Sinai" was translated to three languages English, Hebrew, and Arabic. Apart from traveling and learning languages, Meirav enjoys dancing, rock climbing, exercise, and watching her favorite television shows. She especially enjoys pursuing these hobbies abroad and getting into new activities that she doesn't have back home in Chicago.
